The Butterfield Fire Department was organized in 1901. Since that time, a great deal has changed in the City of Butterfield. One thing, however, has remained the same, and that is our goal: “To protect the lives and property in the Butterfield area”.

The Butterfield Fire Department has a service area comprised of 48 sq. miles. (36 sections of Butterfield Twp. and 12 sections of Odin Twp.) This area includes the City of Butterfield. Mutual aid is also offered to surrounding communities.

In addition to fire fighting services, the fire department has a rescue squad, which responds to medical calls, auto accidents, and other types of rescue situations.

Two annual fundraisers are held to aid in the purchase of new or updated equipment. In early December an annual chili supper is held at the fire hall in conjunction with the Community Christmas gathering. The fire department also serves hamburgers for the Butterfield Summer Sizzler and the Threshing Bee which both take place at Voss Park.

The Butterfield Fire Dept. holds monthly training drills and business meetings at the fire hall at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.

Thank you for checking out our page, I hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to keep all matches and lighters out of the hands of children, and please check your smoke detectors.
